Well, it seems that we’ve reached that time of year again; The Silly Season. Maybe you’re feeling excited as Christmas approaches? Or perhaps you’re feeling a little bit anxious, and even overwhelmed by it all. That’s perfectly normal.
During this time of the year there is a lot of pressure to get the right gift for all the right people, and provide for those closest to you. A little voice in the back of your head worries you, “Have I forgotten someone?”
Well, perhaps you have. You may have forgotten to do the right thing by yourself.
It seems it’s only human nature that we want to cater for others and make them our priority, and then everything we need to do for ourselves gets pushed to the back of the queue, and then often left out entirely.
I’m urging you this year to make yourself a priority. No, that doesn’t mean you can’t do all of those wonderful things for others. It just means that you should offer that same respect to yourself that you do to those around you. Here are some tips on how…
- Keep it simple. Control what you can without putting excess pressure on yourself. Drop those shoulders down and relax
- Breathe. Lay down and get comfortable. Take a deep breath in and hold… breathe out through your nose and feel your spine sink completely into the bed. Give your body the chance to take a break.
- Reward Yourself. When was the last time you did something just for you? You’ve worked so hard. Don’t let an achy shoulder or a sore back defeat you these holidays; take some time out for yourself and get on top of it before it gets on top of you.
So please, try these things this “Silly Season” and allow yourself to live through these holidays, not merely survive.
