Tennis Elbow – Not Always a Tennis Injury!

Tennis elbow or lateral epicondylalgia is an inflammation of the tendons that join the forearm muscles on the outside of the elbow. The muscles and tendons of the forearm can become damaged from overuse and repetitive motions, leading to pain and tenderness on the outside of the elbow. As the name suggests, playing tennis or other racquet sports is a common cause of this condition.

Breathe Easier with Osteopath Dr Catherine Coventry!

Searching for Motivation

I have mostly lead a very active life, playing multiple sports during my teens and then playing senior football for 17 years. An Intro to Myofascial Cupping

What is Myofascial Cupping? Believe it or not, the history of Cupping Therapy dates back as far as ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic writing around 1500 B.C. Early Chinese medical writings on the use of cupping were focused on its purpose during Chinese Surgery; primarily to restrict blood flow to the surgery site, and later assisting the body to remove disease and infection. Cattle horns and cross sections of bamboo were applied for cupping treatment in those times.

The Importance of Stretching

Stretches – Ugh! I know I know, we think that when we have to do stretches its something else that’s added on to our already busy day/schedules. A lot of the time when we see our osteo/massage therapist, we don’t just get treated, we also get a whole bunch of stretches and exercises as homework. Now I don’t know about you…. But when I think of homework, I automatically think…Nah. I wasn’t great at doing it at school and now in adulthood, I’m even worse. The thing is, it really helps.
